van Rijssel

History

December 2001 marked the 25th anniversary of Van Rijssel. December 1976, at the age of 21, Jan van Rijssel established the Van Rijssel nursery. The nursery cultivated a variety of different products during its first years. Products such as Gerbera’s, Freesia’s, summer flowers, single and perennial Gladiolas, Solidago, Rudbeckia’s and more. Since the very beginning Tulips and Narcissus were cultivated during the winter season. From the second year on Gypsophila was cultivated outdoor during summer.

In 1980 Van Rijssel added Coty to the assortment and started specializing in two products. By constantly innovating, building on quality, scaling up and automation, Van Rijssel has become a Gypsophila market leader. Van Rijssel is also an important player with its exclusive Tulip assortment and water-breeding-trays.
